Cal. 35 WCF. S# 79312. Bbl. 24". Model 1895 lever action rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1915. Top of the bbl. is marked with the cal. designation towards the breech. Left side of the receiver is marked with Winchester's 2-line mfg. and patent information. Upper receiver tang is marked "MODEL 1895" above the Winchester trademark logo. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Plain wood ebony inlaid schnabel tipped forearm and straight grip buttstock with crescent steel buttplate. Marbles No. 6 brass beaded blade front sight with Chas. Daniels' concentric rear sight. Receiver features a matte grooved panel over the top of the chamber. Left side of receiver exhibits an added screw over the right section of the Winchester address markings, likely for a "Climbin' Lyman" style rear sight. CONDITION: receiver and buttplate have been cleaned, exhibiting a gray patina, with scattered superficial handling marks and scratches, as well as scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation, pitting, and age related discoloration. Remaining metal components retain large amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning fading to gray patina, with scattered spots and small patches of light surface oxidation and pitting. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent light pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with the buttstock exhibiting 2 cracks (x1 small) that stem from the upper receiver tang. (26-221/MLW). CURIO. $500-800.
