RIFLE. Cal. 22 S, L, EL. NSN. Bbl. 21". Model 1904 single shot bolt action rifle mfg. by Winchester between 1904-1931. The left side of the bbl. is marked with Winchester's mfg. and patent information, followed by the model and cal. designations. Metal components exhibit what appears to be a period reapplied blue finish, save for on the bolt assembly, which is polished in-the-white. 1-piece plain wood straight grip schnabel tip buttstock has been lightly sanded and revarnished at one time. Dovetailed blade front sight, with U-notch rear sight. CONDITION: metal component retain the majority of their period blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray and brown patinas, with scattered superficial handling marks and spots of light to mild pitting present overall. Muzzle crown exhibits consistent mild pitting. Bolt assembly shows some spots of age related discoloration. Bore is bright, exhibiting scattered areas of dark pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Stock shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage. (25-1803/MLW).
