SHOTGUN. Cal. 410. 3". S# 28412. Bbl. 26" w/ Cyl. choke. Round post donut base Simmons aftermarket vent rib & early style diagonal line matting. Glow worm front sight. Action has delightful No.5 gold bordered engraving by former Winchester factory engraver Nick Kusmit. Right side scene shows two running Spaniels & two flushing woodcock. Left side woodland scene depicts two pointing dogs & a partridge. Scenes are surrounded by vine type foliate scroll that extends to upper & lower receiver areas, trigger guard bow & breech end of bbl. Muzzle of bbl. has a single gold band. Receiver extension has an engraved pigeon. Nick Kusmit's "NK" signature is found on a stump along the lower border on the right side of the action. After his retirement from Winchester, Nick continued to engrave Winchesters into his later years. Beavertail forearm & hard rubber pistol grip stock of exhibition grade European walnut having burl grain w/ orange & brown tones highlighted by vivid dark streaking. Stock & forearm have elaborate fleur-de-lis borderless & ribboned hand checkering. LOP: 14 1/4" over a Winchester buttplate. Mfg. 1957. CONDITION: fine as upgraded. Metal retains 98% custom blue. Stocks have very good satin finish & checkering. Bbl. shows slight looseness on the frame, all notches on the bbl. adj. ring are taken up. Very good bright bore. (25-1314/DS). CURIO. $6,000-9,000.
