Cal. 25-20. S# 980210. Bbl. 22". Model 53 lever action rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1927 (serialized within the 1892 S# range). Left side of the bbl. is marked with the model and cal. designations, with Winchester's mfg. information marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Wood straight grip buttstock and forearm exhibit added checkering. Flat grooved steel buttplate. Post globe front sight, with slot blank in rear sight dovetail, and receiver mounted Lyman aperture rear sight. Button mag. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning overall that is fading to gray brown patina, with some scattered handling marks. Right side of lever exhibits some scattered spots of mild pitting. Bright bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with a small repaired crack present on the right side of the wrist, stemming from the receiver.
