Cal. 22 Hornet. S# 40532A. Bbl. 24 1/4". Model 54 bolt action rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1933. Left side of bbl. exhibit the model designation, followed by the Winchester trademark logo and cal. designation, with Winchester's mfg. information marked on the right. Left side of receiver is marked with the Winchester trademark logo on the receiver wall, with the S# marked on the right of the chamber. Metal components exhibit a blue finish. Checkered wood buttstock has been sanded and revarnished at one time. Left side of receiver has been drilled and tapped (likely for an aperture sight), with the stock exhibiting a replaced section below. Receiver is mounted with a Westernfield 6x32 60-1209 scope. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning, with consistent mild surface oxidation overall. Receiver exhibits wear and thinning that shows through to a gray patina. Mirror bore, exhibiting some light pitting towards the muzzle and retaining well defined rifling throughout. Stock exhibits some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Top section of buttplate exhibits moderate oxidation. Scope is hazy. (24-1156/MLW).
