Cal. 30 WCF. S# 2301. Bbl. 24 1/4". Model 55 lever action rifle, mfg. by Winchester in 1926. Left side of the bbl. is marked with the model designation, followed by the Winchester trademark logo, "NICKEL STEEL", and the cal. designation, with Winchester's mfg. information marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Plain wood straight grip buttstock with grooved steel buttplate and smooth wood forend. Marbles Model 3W brass beaded blade front sight, with unmarked folding leaf rear sight, and tang-mounted Lyman flip-up aperture rear sight. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, as well as scattered superficial handling marks overall. Bbl. takedown assembly retains a mostly gray and brown patina. Bright bore, exhibiting mild pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows a few superficial marks and minor impressions from handling and storage but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (24-5690/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
