Cal. 22 WRF. S# 705203. Bbl. 24". Model 90 slide action rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1927. Left quarter flat of the octagonal bbl. is marked with Winchester's 2-line mfg. and patent information, followed by the model and cal. designations. Upper receiver tang is marked with the Winchester trademark logo. Bbl. exhibits a blue finish. Grooved wood forearm and plain wood straight grip buttstock with crescent steel buttplate. Wood furniture exhibits a layer of added varnish. Stock has been reinforced at the wrist via a brass screw. Dovetailed blade front sight with screw fastened U-notch rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the upper and lower assemblies. CONDITION: metal components (save for the bbl.) have been cleaned at one time, exhibiting a gray patina, with scattered spots of mild oxidation and pitting present overall. Buttplate exhibits consistent moderate oxidation. Bbl. retains fair amounts of its original blue finish, exhibiting areas of lacquer, with scattered spots and patches of light to mild surface oxidation. Bore is bright, exhibiting scattered spots and patches of light to moderate pitting, while retaining good rifling throughout. Action is stiff, but otherwise functions appropriately. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage. Buttstock exhibits the aforementioned brass screw reinforcement, a crack stemming from the upper and lower receiver tangs, a gouge on the underside of the wrist, as well as scattered patches of finish loss.
