MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 7.62x54 R. S# 54665. Imports are marked on the right side of the barrel. Bbl. 27". Tangent rear sight graduated to 1,000 meters. Blade front sight with protective ears adj. for windage. These rifles were adopted in 1939 and given the nickname "UKKO-PEKKA" after the Finnish President and noted competition rifle shooter "P.-E.", "Pekka", "Svinhufvud". Hex receiver. Numbers match on the receiver, barrel, and bolt knob. Bbl. is marked over the chamber with boxed "SA", "VKT" in diamond, "D," and "1942." Straight bolt handle. The cocking piece is marked with "Izhevsk (bow and arrow)". 2-Stage trigger. A bayonet lug and cleaning rod are present. Hardwood stock set with the typical Finnish finger joint 2-piece construction. Provision for side and bottom swivels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: matching cardboard shipping box. CONDITION: stock set is in very good condition, with only light wear and scattered handling marks. The stained appearance appears to be the original finish. Small inletted repair at the toe. Metal retains 60% of its worn, thinning finish. Bore is shiny, but with moderately worn lands.
