MCCAIN. Beautifully rendered & highly detailed bronze depicts an Indian brave on horseback raising up a buffalo skull & giving thanks to the gods. Bronze exhibits wonderful detail depicting the buffalo hide used as a saddle, his quiver of arrows laid across in front of him etc. Bronze is signed “McCain” & appears to have a “C” in parenthesis with the letters “BBFM”. A larger version of this exact bronze sold last year for over $20,000. McCain is a very accomplished artist; works with both sculpture works and paintings. His works depict Indians and the wild west. He was born in 1943, near San Diego, California. He was raised on a ranch in California. McCain was schooled, but mostly he is self taught and spent a year in Europe on independent study, later moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico. McCain’s works are wonderfully executed & very much reminds me of the renowned sculptor James Earl Frazier who executed similar sculptures of Indians and horses. SIZE: 16 1/2" h. CONDITION: near excellent. (02-16680/1976). $1,500-2,500.
