NATIONAL MATCH M1 GARAND SEMI-AUTO MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 5324273. This desirable rifle is from the personal collection of noted M1 Garand authority Scott Duff. Included are the original papers w/ the chain of ownership originating at the Erie Ordnance Depot & include a matching data sheet signed by Scott Duff & dated "03/24/14". The rifle was sold by the DCM Sales in 1961 & the paper states only 169 were sold that year being the smallest annual sales. A handwritten note quoting Mr. Duff states "Never remove stock from receiver because of glass bedding. Bbl. 24" stamped "NM" on the left side behind front sight. Markings on right side include "SA-FS" closely followed by "35448" & "5 54 A213A" & defense acceptance eagle. Throat gauges: 2.0. Muzzle gauges: 1.5. Rear sight is marked "NM" on the base & windage knob. Knob is additionally marked "DRC" & separately "IHC". Front sight is marked "NM" & "0.62". Operating rod is marked "NM". Marked under grip w/ encircled "P" proof. Gas cyl. marked "NM". High hump gas cyl. lock. Cross slot gas cyl. lock screw marked "T" & then "PAX". Walnut stock set marked on left side w/ boxed defense acceptance eagle. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: included are original copies of DD form 1149-3 dated 1 MAR 59, DD form 1348-1A dated JUN 86, original picking tag for this rifle, sales receipt dated 6 23-2014 & data sheet in the handwriting of Scott Duff. Original manila envelope supplied w/ rifle to hold paperwork. Also included is a reprinted article by Scott Duff detailing the type 1 & type 2 national match m1 rifles. CONDITION: stock set retains most if not all of its original finish & exhibits only a few tiny scattered handling marks. Stock set was bedded at the arsenal. The front handguard appears to be attached to the ferrule, but does exhibit a very slight for & aft movement. Rear handguard is flush w/ the front of the receiver ring. Tiny missing chip on right side of toe. Metal retains 98% of its original dark parkerized finish w/ very light high point wear. Near excellent shiny bore w/ sharp lands.
