MAGAZINE. Cal. 9mm. S# 4018. Bbl 4”. Krieghoff is the most coveted trademark for the majority of Luger collectors. This “S” code was made in 1936 and was one of the last examples to have the chamber marked “S”, before Krieghoff changed to the “36” date. Standard 4” barrel with drift adjustable front sight, fixed V-notch rear sight on rear toggle. Forward toggle with the usual “H/K” logo over “KRIEGHOFF/ SUHL”. Full serial number on left side of barrel extension, repeated under the barrel and forward frame. Small parts matched to the last few digits of the serial number. The majority of the pistol was finished in salt blue; takedown lever, trigger, safety lever were strawed; magazine release button and grip screws were fire blued. Fitted with the dark chocolate plastic grips. Nickel plated magazine with aluminum plug marked with the matching serial number and Eagle/2 acceptance. Disassembly shows all parts with matching serial numbers and acceptances in appropriate locations, except for the toggle pin whose markings are not discernible. Original grips were too tightly stuck to the frame to safely remove. Matching magazine. CONDITION: approximately 95-97% bright original blue with sharp edge wear and fading in expected areas for a pistol that has seen light military use. Comparable condition grips and magazine whose plug shows no suggestion of removal/enhancement. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. A scarce, early, and fully matching Krieghoff that is seldom offered for sale (23-4741/LA). CURIO. $9,000-14,000.
