Cal. 7.65 Arg. S# 18572. Bbl. 21 1/2". Blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1800m. All visible matching numbers. Safety is an Argentine 1891 replacement. Early pattern Belgian 1889 carbine captured by Imperial Germany. Receiver top has standard FN markings. Left side of receiver has serial number & boxed "V" proof denoting post 1898 but pre WW1 mfr. Buttplate has engineer's unit marking that reads "V 2169". Blued finish with strawed rear sight base. Walnut stock with bottom mounted sling swivels & leather sling. Right side of stock has strong FN "1889" & Imperial German "DEUTCHES REICH" roundels. Cleaning rod present that has corresponding unit marking to buttplate. CONDITION: stock retains much arsenal finish with scattered dings & handling marks. Metal retains 40% arsenal blue with overall fading to brown & scattered oxidation. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bright near excellent bore. (25-2730/MJC). CURIO. $700-1000.
