Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 4896q. Bbl. 29". Blade front sight. Lange visier rear sight graduated to 2000m. Matching numbers on receiver, bbl., floorplate, follower, trigger guard & front sight. All other visible numbers are mismatched & mostly of Imperial German mfr. Receiver top has VC Schilling markings with 1916 date. Firing pin clipped as-is typical for WW1 German rifles. No discernable depot stamp on buttplate. Bolt, buttplate, cleaning rod & receiver all "In-the-white". Balance of other parts are blued. Walnut stock set with faint Imperial acceptance stamps & bottom mounted sling hardware. CONDITION: sanded stock shows a couple small gouges, scattered dings & handling marks. In-the-white parts are dulling to gray with oxidation throughout & heavier oxidation on buttplate. Blued parts retain 30% finish with fading to gray most notable on bottom metal, edge wear & scattered oxidation. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Good bright bore with strong rifling but a couple spots of pitting. (25-2209/MJC). CURIO. $400-600.
