RIFLE. Cal. 8x57 (8mm Mauser). S# 5211ab. Bbl. 23 1/2". Blade front sight that is missing its hood. Tangent rear sight graduated to 1500m. All visible parts are matching & marked with appropriate inspection stamps. Receiver ring has "dot 1944" marking denoting 1944 mfr. in German occupied Czechoslovakia. Blued finish. Laminated stock with reversed front band. No cleaning rod present. Right side of butt has partially faded eagle "H" Heer inspection stamp. Top of handguard & underside of butt both have strong "dot" markings. CONDITION: stock set shows a chip behind upper tang likely from improper bolt disassembly, a couple light chips near buttplate & scattered handling marks. Buttplate is turning gray with scattered oxidation. Balance of metal retains 90% original blue with scattered light oxidation, some dings, fading & edge wear. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bright near excellent bore. (25-2795/MJC). CURIO. $1000-1500.
