CARBINE. Cal. 6.5 Jap. S# 2610. Bbl. 19 1/4". Blade front sight with protective ears. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2000m. Matching numbers on receiver, bayonet assembly & floorplate. Bolt is mismatched. Receiver top has ground mum & Type 44 markings. Left side of receiver has 2nd series marking, Nagoya symbol & serial number. Blued finish with strawed small parts. 3rd variation folding spike bayonet. Asian hardwood stock with two piece butt, left side sling swivels & trap in buttplate. Underside of butt has Kanji acceptance stamps. CONDITION: stock set retains a high degree of Urushi finish with a couple chips, scattered dings, handling marks & scratches. Buttplate & bayonet assembly are a bit proud of wood. Metal retains 50% mix of original & reapplied blue with bayonet & rear band showing overall blued over pitting. Metal otherwise shows scattered fading to gray, a couple patches of pitting, edge wear & oxidation. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Fair bore with frosting & a couple pits but evident rifling. (25-2147/MJC). CURIO. $300-600.
