RIFLE. Cal. 7.7 Jap. S# 55211. Matching numbers on receiver & bayonet lug. Bbl. 25 1/2". Ladder aperture rear sight graduated to 1500 meters w/o "AA" wings. Inverted V front sight w/ protective ears. "Mum" has been ground. Grinding marks given a dull finish. Type 99 characters intact. Left receiver rail has Nagoya arsenal marking. Straight bolt handle w/ oval knob. Notched checkered safety knob. Cleaning rod is present but not readily removable. 2 Screw upper band. Lower band does not have monopod base. Small recoil bolt. Trigger guard made w/ integral lower tang. 2 Screw rear swivel base. Cup type buttplate. Hardwood stock w/ 2 piece construction. Full length hand guard. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 15 5/8" fullered blade bayonet w/ curved quillon & smooth hardwood grips. Flat sided pommel. Bayonet marked on right ricasso as Kokura arsenal supervised production. Interlocking circles & hourglass shaped character. Blued steel scabbard. Bayonet in very good overall condition. Bright blade w/ flecks of oxidation. Blade has been sharpened. Balance of metal is worn thinning blue. Good grips w/ light wear. Scabbard has thinning blue turning mostly gray & patina w/ light oxidation & handling marks. CONDITON: stock set has good original finish w/ moderate wear & handling marks. Stock workmanship showing the beginning of a relaxation of quality control. Metal has 50% original blue w/ thinning & wear. Very good shiny bore. (23-44/RW). CURIO. $600-900.
