Cal. 6.5 Jap. S# 00622200. Bbl. 31 1/4". Ladder rear sight graduated to 2400 meters. Inverted V front sight. Receiver is marked on top w/ worn "mum" overstamped w/ Kokura arsenal rings. Type 38 markings & an additional "school" marking indicating a rifle transferred from the Imperial Japanese Army to schools for training use. These school marked rifles usually have 2 or 3 zeroes proceeding the S# as does this example. Left side of receiver marked w/ Kokura arsenal interlocking rings. Straight bolt handle w/ oval knob. Large tang checkered safety knob. Non-matching dust cover is correct type. 29" cleaning rod is not threaded. Bottom swivels. Flat steel buttplate. Hardwood stock set w/ the normal Japanese 2 piece construction. The left side of the buttstock is marked w/ partially boxed Japanese characters likely a school marking. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 15 1/2" fullered blade bayonet w/ curved quillion. Right ricasso marked w/ Nagoya arsenal marking & triangle. Smooth hardwood grips. Blued steel scabbard. Bayonet metal parts turning overall gray & patina. Grips have extensive wear, gouges & small missing chips w/ crack in left grip. Worn scabbard has turned overall patina w/ numerous shallow dents throughout. CONDITON: stock set has arsenal rework type finish over wear, staining & handling marks. Buttstock markings are generally legible. Buttstock has large repaired crack extending from the center of the trigger guard bow. 6" rearwood on the right side. Notable 3" crack on left side of grip. Notable gouge on the left side of the forend at grasping groove. Stock has notable loss of wood in inletted areas. Hand guard has repaired full length crack on top. Metal has worn thinning original finish turning patina. Oxidized bore turning dark & notable ring in bore located approx. 10" behind muzzle. (23-27/RW). CURIO. $300-500.
