This lot was brought back by Alfred L. St. John SK3C of the 31st Naval Construction battalion. The items are housed in a modern black hardcase & 1946 dated capture papers are present that list "ONE JAP RIFLE", "ONE JAP PISTOL" & "ONE JAP SWORD" are all listed. The pistol is also listed by serial number. The items are as follows: 1. NAGOYA TYPE 14 NAMBU PISTOL. S# 40193. Bbl. 4 1/2". Blade front sight. Square notch rear sight. Right side of slide has Nagoya symbol, second series marking & serial. Rear right of frame has 19.5 date denoting May, 1944 production. Matching numbers on cocking piece, firing pin, mag, trigger, bolt & both grip panels. Firing pin tip is broken. Blued finish. Grooved Asian hardwood grips. MAGS: 1-8. rd. matching numbered. CONDITION: interior of grips have "CR" & "X" carvings w/ some black staining. Exterior of grips show some deep impressions, a few scratches & dings. Metal retains 80% original blue w/ some light pitting, scattered edge wear, fading & oxidation. Very good plus bore. (23-7603/MJC). CURIO. 2. KOKURA TYPE 99 ARISAKA BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 7.7 Jap. S# 66531. Bbl. 25 1/2". Blade front sight w/ protective ears. Aperture rear sight graduated to 1500m w/ AA wings. Matching number on bayonet lug & mismatched bolt parts. Receiver top has ground mum & Type 99 markings. Left side of receiver has 23rd series marking, serial number & Kokura symbol. Asian hardwood stock w/ two piece butt construction & left side sling swivels. Stock has strong Kanji marking behind lower tang. No cleaning rod present. CONDITION: stock set retains much original finish w/ a couple wrist cracks, scattered dings, scratches & handling wear. Metal retains 40% original blue w/ overall fading to brown & scattered oxidation. Very good plus bright bore. (23-7603/MJC). CURIO. 3. JAPANESE ARMY PARADE SWORD. Overall length 37 1/4 w/ 30 1/4" blade. Brass hilt w/ 10 pedal cherry blossom. Family crest mon on backstrap of hilt. Wire wrapped leather grip. Plated scabbard. CONDITION: blade remains mostly bright w/ some light flaking & oxidation. Brass hilt is a dull yellow patina w/ some oxidation staining. Grip shows some light flaking. Scabbard shows some dents, scratches & oxidaiton. (02-21782/MJC). 4. NAGOYA TYPE 30 BAYONET. Hooked quillon Japanese Type 30 bayonet w/ scabbard Blade has Nagoya symbol & blued finish. Smooth Asian hardwood grips. CONDITION: grips show notable staining, gouges, dings & handling wear. Blade shows some gray discolorion near crossguard, scattered edge wear & silvering. Other parts of bayonet are a dull gray patina w/ oxidation. Scabbard is an oxidized gray patina w/ dents & some pitting. (02-21783/MJC). $2500-3500 for lot.
