RIFLE. Cal. 7.62x54R. S# NG7114. Bbl. 29" with Century import marking. Post front sight with hood. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000m. Rifle has an original undated Progress PU 3.5x power scope. Scope has a post reticle with dirty optics. Mount is original & is electropencil matching numbered to bbl. shank. It is this cataloger's opinion that this rifle is indeed a legitimate Soviet PU sniper rifle. There is no bbl. shank scope number but it may have been arsenal scrubbed. Bbl. shank has 1943 date, Izhevsk marking, serial number & importer translated prefix. Left side of receiver has importer added serial number. All matching numbers with floorplate number being lined out to match. Arsenal reworked blue finish. Hardwood stock set with wartime sling slots & canvas sling. Right side of stock has faint Izhevsk roundel. Cleaning rod present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: scope covers. CONDITION: stock set has arsenal rework finish with scattered dings & handling wear. Metal retains 97% arsenal rework blue with some edge & handling wear. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bright very good bore with some light frosting. PROVENANCE: from the collection of Mark Ivey Godfrey. (24-5248/MJC). CURIO. $800-1,200.
