Cal. 7.62x54R. S# 54142, Bbl. 29". Post front sight with hood. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000m. Bolt is mismatched but other visible parts are matching to bbl. shank. Bbl. shank has 1934 date & Tula star. Rifle does not appear to have had any post war rework. Some parts have Izhesvk markings. No visible import markings. A tag is attached stating this rifle was picked up in Russian during WW2 by Pasquale Bond, a Merchant Marine & Sailor. Blued finish. Hardwood stock with screw in sling slots, canvas sling & faint Russian roundel on right side of butt. Cleaning rod present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 91/30 spike bayonet. CONDITION: stock set shows a large 3" crack to left of receiver, a few small cracks, some worn finish, scattered dings, chipping & handling marks. Bolt appears cleaned long ago with scattered pitting & oxidation. Balance of metal is turning gray with scattered pitting, fading, edge wear & oxidation. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bore is mostly bright with some scattered oxidation & pitting but strong rifling. (25-2839/MJC). CURIO. $400-600.
