This lot consists of two heavy brass door lock plates, likely from a WWI-era barracks, officers’ quarters, or military headquarters. The plates depict an American eagle over flags and cannons at the top, with crossed rifles and crossed swords at the bottom. The lot further includes three exceptionally heavy solid brass doorknobs with the Great Seal of the United States in the center. One of the doorknobs still has its iron shaft attached. CONDITION: the lock plates show heavy use but light wear; they both share a dark patina and appear to have been painted black at one time. The doorknobs show moderate wear and may have also had a darkened finish during their period of use. (02-22819/BF). $300-500.
