A wonderful example of a WWI field surgical kit housed in a tan canvas rollup case. Canvas case measures approx. 63" x 24 1/2" when unrolled. Case marked, “J SKLAR MFG. CO. Brooklyn N.Y. CONTRACT DATES JULY 22, 1912”. Kit contains numerous stainless steel surgical tools including an amputation saw, various cutters & forceps, a drill, wooden hammer & bone chisels, plus a myriad of other implements. There are 2 stainless containers, snapped into 1 end, that hold smaller instruments & apparatus. Containers are marked, “PATENTED NOV. 5, 1912”. A few instruments appear to be missing but the kit is substantially complete. CONDITION: instruments appear to be unissued or lightly used at best. The canvas rollup case shows light wear w/ a few scattered minor stains. 1 Outer closing strap is missing. (02-15370/BF). $700-1,100.
