2nd CLASS. 1) 1st CLASS. A fine, cased 1st Class, personalized, WWI Iron Cross. Cross has a magnetic center with a wide pin on the reverse. The reverse is engraved “Ltn. d. R.W. Fein, I/354. 18. 1. 1917.”. Case measures 2 1/2" square, and has a black leather exterior with a gold embossed Iron Cross. The interior has purple velvet & white silk. CONDITION: light wear overall with no damage. 2) 2nd CLASS. A nice cased 2nd Class WWI Iron Cross. Cross has a magnetic center, and the ring appears to be stamped “0”. Case includes a 6” length ribbon and is marked on the upper pad “Zur Erinnerung an Deutschlands grosse Beit”. The interior base is white velvet, and the upper pad is white silk. The exterior of the 4” x 2 1/2" presentation box is black leather with a central black enamel miniature Iron Cross. CONDITION: interior pad & base are a bit stained but undamaged. Exterior shows light wear. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18909-1/BF). $400-700.
