This scarce cap has an extremely fine black wool crown with a black mohair band. The crowned wreath on the front, with cockade, is intricately done gold & silver bullion. Black leather chinstrap with premium buckle is terminated by gold Imperial Navy buttons. Black visor with edge binding has the initials “PA” on the underside. Brown sweatband with coated black lining. CONDITION: hat shows virtually no moth damage. Bullion is lightly tarnished. Chinstrap & visor are quite solid, but the visor has become partially detached on one end. Interior shows light to moderate wear. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox.
