Issued in large quantities subsequent to 1916 know as "SAPPENPANZER" in German. Armor is marked in lower inside left corner w/ interlocking circles indicating Krupp mfg., "K" & "64". This armor originally had abdomen & groin plates suspended from the chest plate by web straps & padded w/ felt pads to deaden noise used also in conjunction w/ hinged armored visor which attached to the "Horns" on the helmet. This armor was too heavy for many uses & was used primarily by sentries & machine gun crews. The lower plates & suspension are not present, however the chest plate has the inside loops still in place. The armor has backstraps attached by rivets. CONDITION: armor has nice appearance w/ good amount of original dark grayish green paint w/ wear, light oxidation & patina. Has small areas of white paint. (02-15324/RW). $400-600.
