This WWI enlisted man's artillery helmet has a ball on the top as opposed to a spike, indicating issuance to an artillery unit. The helmet has a black leather body with a brass front plate, ball top, base, spine, and visor trim. The chin strap appears to be a modern replacement. The national kokard is correct and appears to be original. The Prussian kokard is original but is for an NCO helmet. The interior shows a 9-tongue black leather liner. CONDITION: the helmet body shows very light wear with very minor crazing. The ball on the top has a few small shallow dents. All brass has been cleaned but has done to reacquire a pleasing patina. The interior generally shows light wear and there are no extra holes in the front of the helmet. (02-24035/BF). $600-800.
