MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 8mm Lebel. NSN. Bbl. 31 1/2". Bbl. is marked on right side over chamber "RAC 1907-15." These rifles tend to be found in very nice condition, as in this example, because relatively few were shipped to France and thus did not receive French acceptance markings. Ladder rear sight graduated 2400 meters. Blade front sight. Receiver marked in script on left side "Remington" and "MLE 1907-15." Stacking bar is present. Lower band carries sling ring. Butt swivel is at the bottom of the stock. Walnut stock marked only with tiny assembly mark behind trigger guard. CONDITION: stock has light wear and scattered handling marks over original finish. Metal retains a large degree of its high quality blue except bolt, buttplate, recoil bolts, trigger, and clip release, which are in the white. Very good, shiny bore. PROVENANCE: from the collection of Mark Ivey Godfrey. (24-5280/RW). CURIO. $400-600.
