Cal. 30-06. S#1106971. Bbl. 24". Barrel marked behind front sight "SA / flaming bomb / 11-19". These interesting rifles were made to accept the world war I " Pedersen Device" this device was a way to change a bolt action rifle to a fast firing hi-capacity semi-auto firing a reduced power cartridge. The switch over could be done by the soldier in the field from one mode to the other very quickly. The device did not prove popular so the rifles were rebuilt with standard parts as they came back to the arsenals for overhaul. Ladder rear sight w/o volley notch graduated to 2850 yards. Blade front sight. The receiver with its ejection slot on the left rail has "MARK I" on the right side of the ring. The other MK I parts have been replaced by standard types. Bolt is Remington 1903-A3 marked "R". Cutoff marked "R". All milled furniture including smooth trap buttplate. Unmarked scant grip model 1903-A3 walnut stock. CONDITION: Stock has original finish with moderate wear and numerous scratches and handling marks. Metal retains a large degree of an early reblue with thinning and wear. Shiny bore but with worn lands. (24-5380/RW). CURIO. $600-900.
