EAGLE / 5 ACCEPTANCE PROOF AND INITIALS. Stocker & Co (SMF) originally mfg household nickel silver goods prior to the 1930's and later shifted their focus to the dagger and knife production as the war approached. This example is field personalized with the initials FR lightly scratched on the blade above the maker mark, the reverse of the guard and a faint F in one of the stippled panels of the scabbard accompanied with 3 hash marks. The plated blade is marked with the seated king / SMF / SOLINGEN and is proofed with an droop eagle 5 acceptance stamp. The grips are light orange celluloid with aluminum twist wiring. The steel scabbard is finished with airplane gray plating, contrasting aluminum carry bands and the throat is attached with 2 flush screws. CONDITION: Overall fine. The blade is very good plus with some light scabbard scuffs and some mildly flaking plating along one side of the blades edge. The makers mark is very crisp. The guard and pommel are fine with some light handling marks and light scuffs. Grips are fine with some light scuffs on some of the high edges. Scabbard is fine with plating remaining in the protected areas, some mild oxidation towards the drag and some light scattered handling marks. (02-24941/ZAL). NON-GUN. $400-600.
