FEATURED IN "COLLECTING EDGE WEAPONS OF THE THIRD REICH" VOL. VII. A superb example of an unissued WWII German Fallschirmjager gravity knife. This knife measures 10 7/8” overall with the blade & lanyard ring extended. It is one of the very few examples known with the original box of issue and tissue paper intact. The plain tan craft board box has 2 staples on each end of the top & bottom. The original tissue paper is a similar color and is folded in the base of the box. The 4” blade is unmarked. The spike, bolster & spring lever have a blued finish with the bolster showing the familiar arrow mark. 2-Piece wood grip secured by 4 pins and the lanyard ring. CONDITION: knife is unissued. Box shows very light wear. This knife & box are pictured in Volume VII page 104 of “Collecting Edge Weapons of the Third Reich” by Johnson. A rare opportunity to acquire a superior example of this sought after weapon. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18225/BF). $2,500-3,500.
