This very fine German WWII period Hunting Association leader's dagger measures 18" overall with an etched 10" blade marked "ORIGINAL (squirrel) Eickhorn SOLINGEN". The blade is etched with foliate motifs along with forest and hunting scenes. Gilded brass hilt with a down turned shell guard featuring a grouse in a tree. The finely executed quillons are in the shape of horses hooves. Gilded brass pommel with an acorn capstan. Horn grip with a central deer head insignia of the Hunting Association. Gilded brass mounted leather scabbard with acorn frog stud. CONDITION: blade is in near mint condition and the remainder of the dagger shows light wear. (02-24917/BF). NON-GUN. $900-1,400.
