RIFLE. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 2766v. Bbl. 23 1/2". Blade front sight with protective hood. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000m. Midwar Czech-made K98k, built under German occupation. Receiver top has "dot", eagle "63," and 1943 markings. All visible numbered parts are matching, and the bolt is properly marked with an eagle "63" marking. Blued finish. Laminated stock set with left-side sling provisions and original leather sling. A cleaning rod is present. Stock and handguard are properly "dot" marked, but there are two areas of old tape on the stock and handguard. Because the tape is present, we are unable to disassemble the stock to see internal numbers. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: dot code G24t bayonet with scabbard and leather frog. CONDITION: stock shows a couple moderate chips, a 4 1/2" delamination on the right side of the butt, some flaking, a couple gouges, dings, and handling wear. Metal retains 85% of its original blue, with scattered light fading and edge wear. Very good bore with strong rifling that has some residue that will likely clean up. PROVENANCE: the collection of Curtis H. Halvorson. (23-5921/MJC). CURIO. $600-900.
