SCOPE. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 46097d . Bbl. 23 1/2". Blade front sight with hood. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000m. Rifle is also equipped with a ZF41/1 scope coded "cxn" for Emil Busch. Scope has post reticle, and optics are dirty. Unnumbered mount marked "duv" and with an upside-down eagle "214". Scope base lacks a WaA135 Waffenamt, and it is likely the rifle was converted into a ZF-41 configuration after the factory build. Receiver top has eagle "135" and "byf 44" markings denoting mfg. by Mauser Oberndorf in 1944. Matching numbers on receiver, bolt parts, bands, and trigger guard. Other visible parts are unnumbered, with the floorplate being marked with "byf" for Mauser Oberndorf. Blued finish. Laminated stock set with left side sling provisions and worn leather sling that has a couple broken pieces. Stock inspection stamps are very faint due to sanding. Handguard is loose, and the stock may be duffel cut under the rear band. No cleaning rod is present. CONDITION: sanded stock set has an added oil finish with scattered handling marks. Metal retains 60% original blue, with the bottom metal being mostly gray, further scattered fading, and some dings from improper removal of bands and oxidation. Action functions properly when hand-cycled. Bright, near-excellent bore. PROVENANCE: from the collection of Mark Ivey Godfrey. (24-5231/MJC). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
