A very good example of the very desirable M1936 chained SS dagger of WWII Germany. The dagger has an overall length of 14 5/8" and a blade length of 8 3/4". The blade is etched with the motto "Meine Ehre Heisst Treue" which translates to "My Honor is Loyalty". The reverse of the blade is unmarked which is correct for the M1936. Nickel silver crossguard and pommel guard with the interior stamped "P" & "A" for the casters of the guards, Piel & Adey of Solingen. Black wooden grip with inset eagle and black enameled SS button. Black enameled scabbard with plated mounts and a fine SS nickel chain hanger with correct "SS" mark on the reverse of the first top link. CONDITION: dagger shows light wear overall. Blade shows some scabbard wear and appears to have had some oxidation removed and the blade cleaned. Hilt shows light wear with a very tiny chip at the base of the grip on the reverse. Scabbard finish is 99% and the mounts and chain show no damage. The clip spring is non-functional. (02-25000/BF). $3,000-4,000.
