UNIT. A rare and desirable variation of the German M1942 helmet with a dark field green-painted finish and an original white shield painted on the front with a central party symbol in black sandwiched between diagonal fields of black above and red below. Although we could not determine the exact attribution of this insignia, we feel it is likely for a Volksstrum unit. The interior rear is stamped "HK960" and "3349". There is a small section of brown leather chinstrap remaining, and the 8-tongue liner is light brown leather. There is an inked marking on the liner that reads "Matr: Kamarck. A." CONDITION: helmet finish is approx. 65%. The painted shield is weathered and cracked but remains 95% intact. Liner is worn but solid. A rare helmet for the advanced collector. (02-22799-2/BF). $1,200-1,800.
