This scarce RAD helmet has embossed vents and a raw edge indicating M1942 design. It has a dark gray-green painted finish with a black & silver RAD decal on the left side. The “make-do” chinstrap was created from woven shoelaces. The 8-tongue light brown size 58 leather liner is inscribed with the name “Ovm. H. Frohlich” along with various other markings. The inside rear of the helmet is stamped “18_2” and the inside left is stamped “ET66”. A name is scratched into the inside rim of the helmet that appears to read “Schelp_ Ray”. CONDITION: helmet finish is about 95%. Decal is about 70%. Liner & “make-do” chinstrap show light to moderate wear. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18243/BF). $500-750.
