Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 9767T. Bbl. 23 1/2". Blade front sight without protective hood. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000m. Heer (Army)-issue midwar Steyr K98k rifle. JP Sauer-made bolt parts are mismatched, but other visible parts are matching. Receiver top marked "eagle/WaA623" and "bnz 43". Blued finish. Laminated stock set with distinctive Steyr "Low" bolt cut and left side sling provisions. Cleaning rod present. Handguard has a lighter color than stock and may be a replacement. CONDITION: stock set has recoil bolt reversed with some chipping around its hole, some further light chipping at toe, a couple thin laminate cracks on handguard, scattered dings, and handling marks. Metal retains 30% original blue with overall fading to gray, a few light dings, and scattered light oxidation. Action functions properly when hand-cycled. Bore shows scattered frosting and some pitting but evident rifling. (24-4735/MJC). CURIO. $800-1,200.
