An example of a M1935 Feldherrnhalle parade helmet. We feel that this helmet body is unquestionably real, however, the painted finish, as well as the decals, appear to be post-WWII enhancements. The Feldherrnhalle, or Field Marshals’ Hall, is located on the Odeonsplatz in Munich. It was modeled after a similar building in Florence, Italy and was commissioned by King Ludwig I of Bavaria in the year 1841 to honor the Bavarian Army. This helmet has a golden-brown repainted finish with a Luftwaffe decal on the left and Feldherrnhalle decal on the right. Dark brown leather chinstrap with 8-tongue textured brown leather liner. Inner rear of the helmet is stamped “5477”. Inner left side of the helmet is stamped “__64”. CONDITION: helmet’s current finish is about 98%. Luftwaffe decal is 96% and the Feldherrnhalle decal is 90%. Chinstrap & liner show light overall wear. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18228/BF). $400-700.
