A very fine example of a WWII German Technische Nothilfe leader's dagger measuring 16 3/4" overall with a plain blade marked " (teno eagle) GES. GESCH." & "ORIGINAL (squirrel) Eickhorn SOLINGEN". On the front side the blade is stamped "1244". Plated crossguard with a Teno eagle on the front and a gear decorated pommel. Deep yellow grip with knot attached. The non-ferrous scabbard appears to be aluminum and is stamped "1244" on the throat with correct style undress leather hangers featuring gear shaped buckles attached. This dagger has a great look and shows noticeable wear, however we do not guarantee it to be of WWII manufacture. The metalwork does not show the level of attention to detail that would be expected. This fact coupled with the non-ferrous scabbard and the stamped, not etched, serial number on the blade raise questions of authenticity. CONDITION: blade shows substantial original factory polish. Hilt shows general wear to the high points of the metal surfaces, and the grip shows light wear. The knot appears unissued. Scabbard shows overall wear commensurate with the mounts on the dagger. Hanger shows light wear overall. . (02-24437-7/BF). $2000-4000.
