A good example of a WWII German army sword measuring 37 3/4" overall with a 31 1/2" plain blade that has no makers marks. Gilded brass hilt with an attractive early eagle crossguard and oak leaf decorated knuckle bow. Well articulated lion head pommel with "ruby" eyes that descends to a scroll embellished backstrap. A nice Wehrmacht knot is attached to the hilt. Wire wrapped composite grip with an oak leaf ferrule below. Black enameled scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a cleaned light gray patina. The hilt shows light wear with substantial gilding remaining. Grip has minor losses and the wire is dislodged in spots. Knot is excellent. Scabbard has 95% finish remaining. (02-25354/BF). $350-500.
