CARBINE. Cal. 6.5 Carcano. S# AV2549 matches on the barrel and receiver. Bbl. 21 1/8". Import-marked on the bottom of the barrel Fixed open rear sight marked on base: "CAL 6.5". Blade front sight. Barrel marked on top over chamber, crown "RE TERNI". Marked on the right side over the chamber "1940 XIX". Turned down the bolt handle. Bayonet lug is present. Provision for a side sling. Hardwood stock set. Buttstock is marked on the right side with "bored soldier", "HAJ DERME", and a five-sided star. There are seven small holes ranged around these markings caused by the removal of tacks at some point in the past. Steel trap buttplate. CONDITION: the stock has its original finish with wear, staining, and handling marks, which stem from hard service. Metal retains traces of blue turning gray with numerous handling marks. Bore has moderately worn lands and is beginning to turn dark. (24-1423/RW). CURIO. $300-500.
