Overall length: 16 3/4". Blade length: 11 1/4”. Blade has a slightly irregular hamon. There is a short hi on one side. The consignor states that the blade is signed “Yoshi Nori” circa 1550. Gilded copper habaki with a gilded, slightly S-shaped tsuba. White same grip with gilded wire wrap. 5-Petal cherry blossom on each side of the grip. Gilded kashira with engraved cherry blossoms on either side. Saya is gilded brass mounted sharkskin. Mounts have an engraved cherry blossom design. CONDITION: blade has a finely done polish. Dagger shows light overall wear. Saya also shows light wear with some scuffs to the body. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18425/BF). $1,250-1,750.
