These binoculars, measuring approx. 19" overall, are of brass construction & painted green. Nomenclature plate is marked in Japanese characters as are the data tags inside the cover of the case. Binoculars are marked on left rear w/ "15X4 NO.1143". Binoculars have a pintle mount which has a quadrant on top ranging from zero to 30 degrees. Objective lenses measure approx. 4" outside diameter. Binoculars have several colored filters which can be applied to the ocular lenses. Red rubber eye cups are heavily deteriorated. Binoculars are housed in a fitted wooden crate w/ a hinged lid. Crate is approx. 21 1/2" x 10 1/2" & 8" high. Crate has metal nomenclature tag on the front & two data sheets fasten inside the lid. CONDITION: binoculars retain approx. 60% worn thinning green paint w/ areas of flaking. Only one objective lens color was present. Optics appear cloudy as well as outer focus. Crate has wear, scuffing, cracking, missing latches & evidence of amateur repairs. Inside fittings have become detached. Tags & nomenclature plates are mostly legible. (02-23857/RW).
