Cal. 6.5 Jap. S# 1167916. Bbl. 31 1/4". Mum has been ground, leaving the type-38 characters intact. Receiver is marked on the left side with the Koishikawa arsenal interlocking circles. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2400 meters. Inverted-V front sight. Straight bolt handle with oval knob. Large tang checkered safety knob. Bayonet lug and cleaning rod are present. Hardwood stock set. Buttstock has a two-piece construction. Bottom swivels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: included in the lot is a lower band with a bipod from a Japanese Type 99 rifle. An original rubberized canvas sling is also present but in a heavily worn, delaminated condition. CONDITION: stock set has the wear that comes from hard service in a harsh environment with wear staining, dents, and scratches. Stock seam is notably open. Handguard has a crack at the rear. Metal retains 60% of its blue, turning patina with areas of oxidation and fine pitting. Fair bore with worn lands. (24-4158/RW). CURIO. $ 200-400.
