Cal. 6.5 Jap. S# 12721. Bbl. 31". Blade front sight with protective ears. Ladder aperture rear sight graduated to 2200m. Rifle is also equipped with an original Nikko 2.5x10 power scope serial number, "29957". Scope has a black enamel finish and good-plus optics, and the eyepiece is mostly missing. Matching numbers on bolt, floorplate, firing pin, bayonet lug, and safety. Receiver top has a fully intact mum and Type 97 markings. Left side of the receiver has a serial number, Nagoya symbol, and first series marking at the front of the receiver, as is proper for sniper rifles. Asian hardwood stock set with two-piece butt construction, bottom-mounted sling swivels, and canvas QD sling. A cleaning rod is present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: green rubberized canvas scope case and spare rubber eyepiece. CONDITION: stock appears lightly sanded with an added finish, the buttplate being proud of the wood, and the comb shape appears slightly altered. Stock set otherwise shows a few cracks at the rear of the handguard, scattered dings, and handling wear. Metal retains 60% of its original blue with some light pitting, scattered oxidation, and fading to gray. Bore shows scattered pitting but evident rifling. PROVENANCE: the collection of Curtis H.
