Cal. 7.7 Jap. S# 8345. Bbl. 25 1/2". Blade front sight with protective ears. Aperture rear sight, graduated to 1500m without AA wing provisions. "Transitional" Type 99 Arisaka rifle with a mix of early and later war features. Bolt parts are mismatched, and the bayonet lug is unnumbered. Receiver top has ground mum with Type 99 markings. Left side of the receiver has the 33rd series symbol, serial number, and Toyo Kogyo marking. Blued finish. Asian hardwood stock set with two-piece butt construction and left side sling swivels. Stock is drilled for cleaning rod, but no rod is present. Bottom of butt has strong Kanji markings. CONDITION: stock set retains a strong amount of Urushi finish with a few handguard cracks, scattered abrasions, chipping, dings, scratches, and handling marks. Metal is mostly a dull gray patina with oxidation throughout and scattered traces of original blue. Action is functional when hand-cycled. Very good bore. (24-3895/MJC). CURIO. $250-400.
