The flag has a central star above with a hammer and sickle in the center. The flag is flanked by the letters “C.C.” and “C.P.”. Below the star is Cyrillic writing; please see photographs for exact text. The flag appears to be red cotton with white painted decoration and letters. The flag has not been examined out of the frame. CONDITION: there is expected wear and fraying to the edges. The painted inscription shows some flaking but remains quite legible. 2) HELMET. Consignor states the helmet was purchased directly from Volgograd, Orlovka (Stalingrad). A white-painted camouflage WWII German M1940 helmet shell. Helmet is an obvious battlefield pickup with no liner, chinstrap, or band. The outer surface has the remains of white camouflage paint, and the inner rear has the remains of a white-painted soldier’s name. CONDITION: helmet has a rusted surface both on the exterior and interior. White-painted finish is approx. 40%. Despite corrosion and oxidation, the helmet remains quite solid.
