MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 303 British. S# 27C6665. Bbl. 25". Import-marked on right side of barrel. Adjustable aperture rear sight graduated to 1300 yards. Blade front sight with protective ears. Receiver is marked on the left side "U.S. PROPERTY" "No 4 MK1*." Butt socket is marked on left side "S"/"1942"/ with a flaming bomb. Receiver, forend tip, and sight protector have olive green paint. Receiver has cut-out bolt head release. Hardwood stock set, with grooved rear handguard. Brass buttplate. Buttstock is marked under grip "U.C" with a broad arrow. Marked on the right side is "FR," indicating a factory repair in India. Tan, 1943-dated web sling. MAGS. one matching 10 rd., detachable, marked "S." UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: British No. 4 MKII bayonet with scabbard and tropical canvas frog. CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear, staining, and handling marks. Metal has a small amount of its original finish turning gray with flaking of the painted surfaces. The two-groove bore has a frosted appearance while retaining sharp lands. (24-3821/RW).
