ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 2649o. Bbl. 23 1/2" with Century import marking. Blade front sight. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000m. Matching Soviet number on left side of butt; other parts are unnumbered or mismatched. Receiver top has "dou 43" markings denoting 1943 mfg. by Waffen Werke Brunn II in German-occupied Czechoslovakia. Left side of receiver has Soviet "X" marking. Sight hood, cleaning rod, and locking screws are missing, as is typical for Soviet-captured rifles. Arsenal-reworked blued finish. Laminated stock set with cupped buttplate and left side sling provisions. CONDITION: stock set has the scattered remnants of Soviet shellac and has the remnants of a white sticker on the right side. Stock otherwise shows some chipping behind the upper tang, dings, and handling marks. Metal retains 97% Soviet arsenal-reworked blue with some dings and edge wear. Action functions properly when hand-cycled. Bore shows scattered oxidation and some pitting but strong rifling. (24-5407/MJC). CURIO. $400-600.
