TRAINING RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# 207395. Bbl. 26". Barrel markings include "STEVENS MODEL 416 / address / STEVENS X BARREL / CAL. 22-LONG RIFLE". The receiver is crisply marked on the left side with a small flaming bomb and "U.S. PROPERTY". These high quality bolt-action rifles were produced from 1937 to 1939 with over 10,000 being used by the U.S. military from 1941 through1943. Receiver has a high quality factory target rear sight and an interchangeable aperture target front sight. Post aperture is installed. The receiver and barrel are fitted with scope blocks. Walnut target type stock. Grooved flat steel buttplate. Forend has adjustable swivel. Sling is a Vietnam War era green nylon type. MAGS: 1 detachable unmarked 5 round. CONDITION: stock has light wear with scattered small handling marks over its original finish. There is a number "1946" at the toe secured by clear tape. Metal retains 85% of its original blue finish. Scope bases are case colored. Sight adjustments are smooth and positive. Bore is shiny, but has lightly worn lands. PROVENANCE: From the Lifetime Collection of Malcolm Zickler, Ret. USAF Lt. Col.
